Palethnological Collections

Palethnological and paleontological collections take their origin from Carlo Regnoli’s collection, a medical doctor from Pisa who conducted the first prehistorical excavations in the caves near Viareggio and mount Pisano.

In addition, these collections include pieces from different Italian regions, dated from the Paleolithic to the Bronze Age. Moreover, there are casts of some prehistorical works of art and a remarkable collection of animal remains found during the excavations, that are particularly important so as to reconstruct the environment and the types of economy ruled in the past.
